Netflix’s Reed Hastings Chastises Comcast Over Net Neutrality And Its Shady Xfinity App


netflix-reed-hastingIn the latest battle in the war for living room domination, Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings took to his public Facebook account and called out Comcast’s latest attack on Net Neutrality. As he explains Comcast’s just-launched Xbox 360 Xfinity app does not count against the provider’s ISP data caps. However, if the same exact program is viewed through Hulu, HBO Go and, yes, Netflix, it deducts the data used against the subscribers monthly allotment.

From Now On Google Currents app is with International Support, Offline Reading


Folks in the US have been able to use the Google Currents app to read various websites with more of a magazine-style layout since late last year, and now those outside the country can finally get in on the act as well. Google has today rolled out version 1.1 of the app for Android and iOS, which makes the service available worldwide with support for 44 languages, and adds a number of other improvements including offline reading, instant online sync, translation for 38 languages and a promised 7X performance boost.

Facebook's Instagram No1 in AppStore

Facebook's Instagram buyout has propelled the photo-sharing app to the top spot on the App Store for the first time in the company's two-year history.

It's amazing what the little manner of a billion dollar buyout can do to raise your profile. Just 24 hours after Facebook moved to acquire the Instagram photo-sharing service, it ascended to the top of the App Store charts.

Facebook to buy Instagram for $1bn

instagram-facebookFacebook will spend 1 billion dollars (£629 million) to buy the photo-sharing software company Instagram.
The deal comes days after the service began offering a version for Android phones. The payment will be in cash and Facebook stock.
Facebook is expected to complete its initial public offering of stock next month.
It is Facebook's largest acquisition to date.

App transfers money with the tap of a phone

Bump Pay is a new app for person-to-person mobile payments developed by Bump, the makers of the app of the same name that allows the instant transfer of contact information and photos.
"You type in the amount you want to send, you bump your phones together and you'll be immediately taken to the PayPal confirmation page," explained David Lieb, the co-founder and CEO of Bump.
