Looking to compete with the market dominating iPad and the Amazon Kindle Fire, Google's own branded tablet has been pushed back until July
Amid a flurry of rumours of the introduction of the first own-branded Google tablet device, new reports have suggested the Amazon Kindle Fire rival has been delayed until July.
Long the thing of mystery, a number of reports have suggested Google will enter the tablet fray later this year with the company’s first own branded 7-inch Android packing tablet device to follow on from its Nexus range of smartphone devices.
Although little is known about the expected Google tablet offering, new reports have suggested that the Nexus tablet which will launch in partnership with Asus has been pushed back until July as Google looks to further reduce the device’s price to better compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire.
Tipped to launch with Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS as opposed to the upcoming 5.0 Jelly Bean offering, the Wi-Fi only tablet is reported to currently be heading for release with a $249 (£156) price tag with Google said to be targeting a lower $199 (£125) price in order to better compete with the Amazon tablet offering.
Whilst the Amazon Kindle Fire is currently exclusive to American markets, the budget tablet offering has seen impressive sales since launching late last year to much acclaim and consumer demand.
